friendships which come in different forms.
I opened the recipe book I made last winter, had completely forgotten about it.
There they all were, printed up and sleeved.
Since then I have bought another new small freezer.
Can enjoy some cooking again now its not so hot.

The June heatwave lasted for 10 days, was awful as I was ill as well. Lost a lot of plants. Bought some perennials today in the GC end of season sale for my raised beds,
not getting caught out again. Good investment. Got 8 at
£2.89 each.
Going back tomorrow to get double the same plants. Will
get my Saturday lad to help me double plant them at correct spacing in Gerbil compost to make good big splashes of colour . The compost saves the rainwater and keeps them moist whatever happens.
The other small bed I did like this has been very successful whatever the weather. The leaves overlap and keep the soil shady.

My daughter has also started doing the soups for the freezer, she makes enough for her to have at lunchtimes through the winter months. Perennials are a very good idea Diane, so much easier for us to look after and don't need refreshing every year, I find my beds are so much easier to care for now......

Thanks Stera and Lincs. I have never been very successful with Anemones. Bought 30 corms today for autumn planting. Are they happy in pots in the greenhouse in the winter ?

I cannot grow them either Diane, neither in the garden or in pots, I 've given up on them now...

I've not tried them under glass Diane. I planted a packet of them in the garden and about four came up. Those did well so I'm going to try again this autumn. I've bought them but not planted them yet. Never tried them in pots.

Decided now to plant the Anemone corms in two of my
planters on the balcony so I can keep an eye on them.
No snails and slugs up there, snaffling lovely young shoots in the night.

Gosh Diane, you must have had a better summer than we have had - very few days when salad was a preferred option! Enjoy your recipes!
