Winter interest for all.

I am spreading the news. I have just found the wonderful IT sites for model railway layouts. Watch for an hour
every evening instead of T/V.
In particular I like ‘A Cab Ride on the Garden Train’
The plants, weeds, bushes, trees, weathered rocks, train speed, all faithfully reproduced in HO scale.
How the tiny film camera was fitted into the train driver’s
seat is beyond comprehension, it makes me feel as if I have been on holiday.
There are thousands of wonderful people out there building these layouts for us to enjoy in the winter months.
Even taking them to Alexandra Palace next March for those who can travel.
So cheer up, this winter will be much happier for those who can take an interest.

Diane, I hardly dare look at those sites. As you know I am de-cluttering and my line of little shops is being diminished, sadly. The Antique shop, the General Store and the Toy Shop have all been sold and the buyer has her eyes on my others!
I never got round to a Garden Centre though our daughter and I made miniature flower arrangements for the various properties.
Seaburngirl : Agree about the "addiction". Even now I am tempted to add to my collection, because, as Marie Kondo says in her de-cluttering book, they do give me joy!!
Diane, I'm confused. I use 1/12th scale. I've just succumbed and viewed the Vancouver set -up and can't work out what is real, and what isn't!! Beautiful!!

Thank you SB girl and Eirlys, I must now look at the
Vancouver one. I do admire those people so much -
and you both too ! Well, its good to have an interest in the winter months when we cant get on the garden.

It's good to have a variety of interests so that we can concentrate on different ones at different times.

I so agree Hywel. I am so grateful for my other indoor hobbies such as knitting and sewing. this last few days I have been quilting a panel of a glow in the dark skeleton for our youngest girl's 21st b'day. I did one for the eldest girl as she was envious so I got a pre-printed panel for her too. Still not ready to start driving again as I cant do an emergency stop yet.

Good to have other indoor interests. I try to do some then change every hour, but am slow at cooking jobs. Have no patience with watching chefs on T/V dont know why, I can watch gardeners all day !

My eldest brother does this sort of model layout so I know how addictive it can be. There is an up and coming tv programme on it too.
as a girl I often used to make the scenery trees/bushes for his layouts using different mosses and lichen. I admire the work but I'd rather go on a live steam railway like the North Yorks Moors one.[Pickering to Whitby] My youngest brother is one of the boiler makers for them based at Grosmont.
