So I have been hard at it and enjoying every moment

I started with the front garden. Did the rest of the flower beds ready for planting. And mowed the lawn

I then mowed the back garden. The lawn did not really need cutting but the mower did hoover up all the dead leaves and leave it looking a lot better

I dont have the best of lawns as most of it is 50 per cent moss but it still looks good in the summer when it is growing and has been cut. Anyway after all that I thought I would top up on my toperie (no laughing you goy members)

So what have you all been doing today will look forward to reading your Blogs Donna

i tried to tidy things today too Donnah by finishing off the clearing up of yesterdays prunings, budleia, spirea, hebe, climbing rose, ceaonothus and escallonia. I also sorted through plants in pots from last season's growing experience and repotted where appropriate. got my 11 yr old to cut the edges of 2 borders. i'll be back at work monday too and hubby will want to go out tomorrow so that is it for the week. apart from checking the greenhouse am and pm.

I've got more pruning to do - the Caryopteris, Perovskia and Spiraea all need to be done. I'd like a 'slave' too, Seaburngirl - do you hire him/her out? LOL.

I spent my time tidying the borders, finding lots and lots of my least favourite weed - Hairy Bittercress. If you miss just one, the seeds shoot everywhere. I obviously missed a lot last year!

sorry you are too far away to lend you her. remember the old adage, one years seed 7 years weeds! You can eat hairy bittercress washed and derooted in salads, its peppery and quite pleasant. most of mine goes to the pet rabbits, there is a limit to how much i can eat. i dont mind pulling it as it is so much easier than creeping sowthistle :o( .

Thank you Sprithenry Its all the laten names of plants which throws me

21 Feb, 2009

the latin names still trip me up and when people say them they sound nothing like i think they should sound. i wish gardening programmes would put the name on the screen as the presenter is saying it. i'm a definte amateur/enthusiast
your garden looks fab donnah. i know most of my local wild flowers by their local common name. that has caused problems & misunderstanding. i'll tell more in a blog soon!
