The blueberry bushes from poundland are looking good and im sowing cape gooseberry today 05.03.08. I hope they turn out well. They are from Suttons and the variety is Little Lantern. Sown Tomato Gartenperle it says on the packet that they are ideal for hanging baskets.

I could not agree more. I got 3 fruit canes from aldi last year and one of them was a tayberry. all 3 cost £1.99 and tayberrys cost shed loads at the garden centers. I hope the secret is that if you take a plant or a cane from a shop thats hopefully warm you need to keep them indoors for a while and slowly introduce them to the garden. In the past i was maybe a little eager to get my plants and canes into the garden, but i suppose gardening is a learning curve. Hmmm shall i keep my trees in the living room lol. I feel like getting the long promised fig tree and olive tree now. Yep scrap the idea of ketting a kitchen table. I only came on this site today and i feel that its great. Sorry if i come across a little light hearted but hopefully nature can give me a helping hand.

I've always found that fruit bushes from Poundland produce a good crop in the next year after purchase. I have blackcurrant, gooseberry and blueberry, which are gr8! now. You're so right to be thinking about the plants'' conditions pre-purchase. Keep them acclimatized, and gradually harden-off, like any other plant, and you'lll be
OK! A good one to look out for is Kiwi Fruit "Jenny", which is self-fertile. My Dad grew this to flowerin inot beyond. Will
