This tree has just flowered in a Cardiff park for the first time in a 100 years. It’s the 6th tree of the species to bloom in the UK since 1907. I looked it up on GoY but couldn’t find a photo of one in flower, not surprising though.
They think that a combination of a harsh winter followed by the hot summer was the trigger. Pity they didn’t include a photo with the article ( The Telegraph).

I see it was mentioned on BBC News and ITV News and there are some images. It's a beautiful flower and I can understand why people would visit Roath Park in Cardiff to see the tree.

I've done that, Tbt, & read about Wilson who introduced it. There was a photo of the tree in bloom but I'm not sure
whether the little close up photo at the side was that flower or not. The tree didn't look that spectacular but thank you for giving me the link. Perhaps I'll see a better photo one day, not likely to be going to Cardiff!

Your welcome Feverfew. Let's hope more are planted closer to your home area I am surprised it has nt been on Gardeners World TV program. Cardiff would be a long way to travel to see it.
