Welcome to the Jungle...

and the building site!
In the aftermath of fitting a new septic tank, which, thanks to new French Govt. rules, we couldn’t put where the old one was, our garden has taken quite a few steps backwards and at the moment it’s difficult to see a way forward.
On the plus side though – the snakes seem to have disappeared!
But we are now left with this…
This used to be a lovely terrace, made with large coin stones many, many years ago, by the previous owners parents. As you can see on the photo, some of the coins have had to be removed so the pipe can run to the tank. The pipe couldn’t be set any lower nearer the house, as the ‘flow’ had to be right, but it had to get deeper going towards the tank, meaning more coins had to be taken out…
which then leads to this horrible thing (the tank), stuck right at the beginning of the garden area, and is the first thing that greets you when you come down the drive!
We’ve had to cover it with gravel, not earth, because of weight pressure and maintenance.
It’s now got to the point where we just walk over to it, ponder it for a while, then walk away shaking our heads.
So ideas are needed please, as to what we could do with this area now, as we don’t want to flag over the remaining coins (which look great when moss-free), and what we can do to help camouflage the tank area.
Any suggestions will be gratefully received…

Could you turn it in to a Gravel Garden ??

That's a good idea - remove the large stones, fit a border around it and possibly paint the lid covers and put some large planted up pots on them too. Thanks for that Swanky - I knew all it needed was a pair of fresh eyes to look at it!

Is a gravel garden the same as a Japanese garden - nicely raked gravel with minimal planting?

I think so Bulbaholic - I've just looked at some of the images on GOY and I think I could manage that. Just got to get some help shifting them stones...
