Marigold
Genus: Calendula.
Species: Calendula officinalis.
I got some seeds in 2006 from a seed swap day at Garden Organic in Yalding (which has been sold, sadly and is no longer free to RHS members - great shame). It has self-seeded to some extent, not prolifically but then I dead-head it for as long as possible to keep the blooms coming. The vibrant orange doesn't always harmonise well with some of my other plants. The worst clash was against my marjoram blossoms, so I am keeping any self-seeders confined to another bed where I have California poppies planted.
