Species: Musa Yunnanensis.
Unusual variety purchased from e-bay as a small twig in May 09. Has 6 new leaves, each one bigger. Will be in the g/h overwinter but is said to withstand freezing temps as its origins belong in the Chinese mountains.
Update 3/1/10 - eek! this appears to have died a death in the g/h - my heater was no good and at minus 3 all of the leaves have turned brown and flopped off. I will try to save the base and roots and see what happens in the spring :(
