Cherry (Kanzan)
I think that there was a craze for planting Kanzans at one stage (probably when this one was planted) and they became thought of as rather stiff and naff.
Ok so they have drawbacks - the leaves are only a decent autumn colour once in a while (not this year) and the flowers are a passing fancy, but oh I love the drifts of blossom. It is delightful to approach the house and know from a street away that no one else blocks the drains in such an elegant way!
