Leylandii
Bought 60 2 foot tall leylandii off Ebay for £60 to go around perimeter of fence as thought that would be cheaper alternative to erecting a new fence or screening.
Our soil is really poor at the moment, so so far we haven't seen the rate of growth people warned us about in their scare stories, although the ones planted in the flower bed nearest the road are doing pretty well (doubled in size last year) probably due to the added compost and plant feed we've been giving the shrubs and bedding plants through the summer.
We don't mind too much if they do grow too big as looking forward to lopping them down to size when the time comes. They're going to give us the privacy we desire from being so close to a road.
