canna - version Tropicanna

Species: Canna indica.
This canna hasnt even come into flower but with just two leaves already ranks as one of the most self-consciously beautiful plants I have seen.
I bought it as a rather shrivelled bulb from the garden centre and even so it cost £3.99 which I thought was rather rich. However, I now see that the plants cost much more!
