Chinese lanterns
Species: Chinese Lanterns (Physalis alkekengi).
When I came in this jouse they where in the front garden by the wall but not looking very nice really but last year (09) I moved them in the edge side and they are growing everywhere.

The immature fruit can have undesirable effects, but the mature fruits appear to be edible.
Notes on Toxic plant chemicals:
Solanine, a bitter glycoalkaloid, is found in the immature berries.
Ripe fruit is apparently edible .
Notes on poisoning:
Symptoms include diarrhea, gastroenteritis, fever, and a scratchy feeling at the back of the throat a few hours after ingestion.
