Baneberry, White

Genus: Actaea.

Species: Actaea pachypoda.

White Baneberry is a perennial native of Ohio, is in the Buttercup family and is also called "Doll's Eyes" because of it's shiny, poisonous white berries marked with a single black dot. It's common in moist deciduous woods. The common name "Bane" means "to cause death". While the white berries probably won't cause death, they will cause illness if eaten. White Baneberry is well established in my back woods and in my yard.
