Diohio's Garden

Trefoil, Birds-foot

Genus: Lotus.

Species: Lotus corniculatus.

This perennial is non-native. It was introduced from Europe as a cultivated forage crop, and is widely planted for erosion control along newly constructed roads. It can be very aggressive and take over disturbed soils very quickly. I love the yellow color. It is a nectar source for European Skippers and Sulphur butterflies. I'm trying to grow it inbetween my Daylilies but it's not being very aggressive.
