Hywel's Garden
Cacti - Opuntia aciculata
"Opuntia" refers to the Greek town of Opus.
"Aciculata" derives from the Latin word “acicula” which means “a small pin for a headdress” - referring to the glochids.
So the name means "covered with small pins"
It grows in the south west USA and northern Mexico, on dry stony slopes.
