Malvastrum lateritium (False Mallow)

Species: Malvaceae.

A creeping plant originating from South America that will eventually form big carpets of cover but can also be trained up a wall. For a long period throughout summer the round hairy leaves are topped by bowl shaped peach coloured flowers which grow up to 5cm across. These flowers have a darker pink stripe around the base of the petals and cheerful yellow centres. A good plant for covering sunny slopes or banks - it will also provide a colourful display when spilling over the sides of a pot.
Will remain evergreen in sheltered mild area.
Hardy to -10 C
