Cheals Weeping Cherry

Genus: Prunus.

Species: Prunus 'Kiku-shidare-zakura'.

This Weeping Flowering Cherry tree is one of the smallest around growing to an estimated height and spread of just 3 x 3 metres in 20 years, making it ideal for small spaces or container growing. Prunus 'Kiku-shidare-zakura', more commonly known as Cheals Weeping Cherry, boasts bronzed foliage when new, that turns a glossy, green before reclaiming hints of bronze and orange in the autumn.
This ornamental tree may be small but it still offers a stunning display of large, deep-pink, double flowers that form a blanket along pendulous branches in April-May. Tough and tolerant of pollution, this small tree tolerates most soils except very wet or chalky, shallow conditions.
