Genus: Filipendula.
Species: Filipendula rubra.
The patch gets bigger every year, stands about 5' tall with sparse leaves and reddy brown stems. Leaves are jagged edged. Growing in full sun and tolerant of dry soil, tho I suspect it would be happier with a moister area ( northern alberta prairie, no such thing!)
