Filipendula rubra
It is also called Meadowsweet...This is a wonderful plant, if only it would bloom longer! In the prairies, the pink flowers rise above the surrounding vegetation and can be seen from a considerable distance.
I have of course loaded this pic upside down ( sigh ) the stems of this plant are about 5' tall

Hi Lorraine,
I've tried a couple of times to grow our common meadowsweet variety here in the UK, but no luck. I don't know if it was a dud packet of seeds...
It has such a nice scent. Does this one?

Didnt notice any scent with them, tho the lilacs were in bloom at the time and their perfume was pretty intense, might have masked the meadowsweet scent..will try to find out next summer as they are no longer blooming.

Ooh, that's gorgeous, really frothy, bet it looks stunning in a cloud of them

They are really nice and grow in quite a clump, but they bloom early and leave a bare patch in the garden when they are done...what to do I wonder...will have to find something to grow under them.

See who else is growing Filipendula rubra (Queen of the prairies).
See who else has plants in genus Filipendula.
