Jasminum officinalis
Genus: Jasminum.
Species: Jasminum officinalis.
Already in the garden as a mature climber when I moved here in 2000. Situated by a south-facing wall.
It's pretty vigorous and rampant, I have to cut it back loads each year or else it gets huge and then gets blown over by autumn winds, leaning all over the beleagured acer nearby. I'm glad of it on warm summer evenings when the scent is at its best, although at the time of writing (late summer/early autumn 2008) I don't recall having much of a summer at all...
