Mum was a lovely lady, always putting others before herself and would give you her last penny.

That's a lovely story Dotty...like so many lives then, sadness mixed with happiness. It's so hard when people are snatched away from us & we just have to console ourselves that as one goes another is born ....& so we go on.
They'll tax dentures next Ian....;0))))

It's good to have memories of loved parents and nice you've kept the roses. The things we go through in our lives and the people we share our lives with can make us better human beings.

i enjoyedyour blog and i think you will find many of us started gardening with plants that have strong family memories. I know my garden would be poorer for it if i did nt have plants from my mum.
oddly its the plants my dad didnt like that i now grow in his memory [lupins and gladioli being 2 of them]. he had very strong "i'm not having that in the garden" views. but i dont know what he really liked. I will have to ask my eldest brother as he stayed in the family home when i married and moved to yorkshire.

Thats a lovely story GD, Its such a sad world and can be so hard on people at times but you seem to be one of those who can keep smiling and always looking on the bright side of life. Your a rare species all right. If those kind of things happened to younger people today they would be looking to blame someone, so they could claim some kind of compensation or sit around moping about how things were to hard and they couldn't cope.
Bless you sweety and keep smiling (Its just about the only thing they can't tax!)
