Was wondering about tulips as I've grown some this year. Do you simply snip off the flower head and leave the foliage to die back?

I'm no expert Tanethra, but i normally take the flowerheads off and leave the rest until the leaves go yellow as the bulb needs this to store food for next year' Must admit i have been known to snip the whole lot off too soon as they end up looking really messy.
