My balcony with vine

It gets a dramatic haircut each year and always comes back ever more rigorously each spring. That vine is really quite amazing and must be very old. You can see the trunk on the left there - it goes down through a hole in the balcony and down the wall of my little garden behind that blue cushion of campanula in another earlier photo. It then goes down into the bowels of the street pavement where there was nothing growing (my little rockery was manmade when we bought the place) onto the level below, outside the wall - where the original mother vine. I shall take a panoramic photo from the parking area below and try to show you what I mean.

It sounds like a triffid but it looks far more friendly :-)
