I got one this year, hope it will do as well as yours. How do you know when they are ready to pick?

well I keep my eye how they are changing colour and if ripe you should just be ableto pull lightly and they come off in your hand or with little resistance

The advice we've been given here is to wait 4 days after they turn blue, to add some sweetness. The trouble is if we do that, the raccoons and the deer get to them first. I think your pulling method is probably better, Stevie.

Thank you both. We only have squirrels here - no racoons! I may have to pick them and freeze them because there aren't enough to make anything with at the moment?
