Wow they look absolutely healthy. After the heat we had , mine is drying up fast.I don't know if one is supposed to deadhead delphiniums or not???

Our city flower, thanks Rhodea. If you would like to stop them reseeding you could deadhead but it isn't required. Generally, deadheading is used to stop a plant from setting seed so it will keep blooming. These are a one time deal. :-) Our cool nights really help them stay in great shape for a month or more, unless a hard storm knocks them over.

Yeah, I got mine roped to bamboo -looking stakes. They're staying put.
are you supposed to cut them down in the Fall? Not sure.

I've been wonderfing that myself. Generally perrenials do better cut down once they go dormant after a hard frost. It does help keep excess moisture from filling the root system.

I suppose if I don't cut them down the winter winds will get them.I think I have to cut a third of the plant ...something like that...but also i heard that one has to wait til they naturally go brown or die back a bit in order to store up valuable energy for the winter.

That is a good idea. They will form seed as well and you could get some new ones. These are used by the city in many spots where i know they are put to avoid needing maintenance so I'm sure they would be fine to leave as well.
