Yes the kentias were lovely - this is quite a shady cool section of the gardens which provides better growing conditions for them. Unfortunately quite a few have died off.

I think it was probably from the drought - they seem to stand up to the heat quite well over here.

That's very sad! I know Kentia Palms don't grow very quickly...and when drought stricken they grown even slower.

I see Howea fosteriana - Kentia Palms in the background...I thought it might be too hot for them in Brisbane, Australia. They grow in Hawaii, however, in the height of Summer they seem to dislike the high night temps.
