About me

I live in San Diego, CA. about 9 miles inland from Downtown. My climate is subtropical and and my garden rarely experiences temperatures below 40F./ 4.5C. degrees and is frost-free. I'm located on a south facing mesa at about 460 feet elevation. I grow Mangoes, Papayas, Plumerias, Delonix regia (Royal Poincianas), African Tulip trees and many species of rare palms and many other tropical plants. Temperatures in winter range from min. 42F./6C. (low - night) - 90F/32C. (high - day) degrees and sometimes higher. Summer min 68F./20C. (low - night) - 100F./38C (high - day) degrees (sometimes higher - 109F./ 43C. degrees during a horrible heat wave)

I wanted to add -- I do have a fairly comprehensive knowledge of palms and tropical plants...from personal experience and formal education. I've also belonged to the International Palm Society (IPS) since 1984.

I also belong or belonged to many plant societies over the last 25+ years.
