I was going to ask what you do with the plants in winter. Have you a glasshouse or conservatory? We have a fairly mild winter but I still lose a few things, sometimes plants you wouldn't expect to. We get such a lot of rain also.

Yes, I do have a greenhouse where I put most of my tender plants.......but sadly, I left my cactii at the end of the garden in a sheltered area and lost them in February when we had all that snow and frost..... How I wish, I had taken them in the greenhouse. Ah well, part of gardening I guess....you win some, you loose some......

Oh what a shame Louis, I think we've all got a story like that, mine is Lonicera hildebrandiana (the giant Burmese honeysuckle) I paid a lot of money for it at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Unfortunately they have lost their one as well it has been in the garden for years.
