these lovely fuzzy pods will dry on the plant splitting open and dropping the hard black seed. Since they're a tropical I'm sure they don't need any cold treatment so I'm going to bring in all the pods and hope that the seed is ripe... next spring I'm going to plant them!!

3 seeds per pod? Is that right?

that's what mine had... the pods will dry and wither on the stalk and the seeds fall like rain if you disturb the plants! Think you might try using them for jewellery?

most welcome Motinot... have since done some looking and found that the seeds are used to make jewellery...they are very hard...black and a lovely shape...we had our first killing frost last night and my cannas are all droopy...will have to dig them soon as we are expecting five days of below zero temps.
