Thanks Franny! and yes Stickitoffee the garden is south facing but the wall is a barrier to the wind and that keeps the acers happy :)

Yes its lucky to have all that isnt it!? the wall does provide the bit of shade needed, having said that though my garden is tiny, about 25 feet wide by 20/25 feet deep,i manage to fit an awful lot in though! I got rid of all the grass too! it was the best thing i done really its a clay soil. I meant to ask are you male or female? not that it matters im just curious. Im female if you havnt guessed? :)
