This is a patch of Northern Adder's Tongue Fern that I found growing under one of my hostas last year. It doesn't look at all like a fern and I couldn't ID it for quite some time after I found it. I just happened to be looking in my new fern book and there it was. It has one oval sterile frond and one fertile frond.
