Casa Juan

Janey

By Janey

Casa Juan

The casa was about 200 years old and used by the farmer when harvesting the olives. Ian built the arches, put in windows and created the interior whilst I gardened.

Yes, a peach coloured one, they smelled gorgeous. Do you have them in Queensland?

Aw thanks Dd......things over there look beautiful but there are so many British people trying to come back......there is hardly any work in this region now....you would have to live nearer the cities to be able to manage.

Wow Janey.....This is wonderful...what a lovely to live. Where abouts in Spain is that? Is that an Oleandar right of the picture?

We did enjoy it Louis......it's in South Catalunya North Eastern Spain, just north of Tortosa...was a super undeveloped region....not any more though, the developers are doing all down the coast....:o(
Yes..that's a peach coloured Oleander, I made a couple of hedges of them, one down the drive and one round the edges of the garden. We managed to bring a couple back with us and they are doing well...have flower buds on right now....:o)
Do you have any in your Mediterranean garden?

I used to have the white Oleander, but it only lasted 3 years, and yes, I had it in the courtyard. I will have to get an other one. The scent was lovely. It brings me back memories of my childhood, as I original come from Gibraltar, and they have loads in Gib too.

Oh, you must miss the sun and way of life Louis? The scent of the Oleander is wonderful isn't it? The local Catalans called them Adelphis.

Hi Janey, Very interesting, I didn't know that. Yes, the scent is wonderful... I can still smell those Oleanders LOL. I will be going to Gib for a holiday next month to see my parents, so those orleanders, will be waiting for me hehe !!! There's an avenue of orleanders, and when you you walk in the evenings, the scent is lovely.

Ooh...lucky you......we used to frequent a restaurant on the sea front where there were two very old Oleanders....must have been about 15ft tall with gorgeous dainty pale pink blossoms......... I bet you have the Cercis siliquastrum there too....what a fabulous sight in early Spring an avenue of cerise pink blossoms...then those strange heart shaped leaves later.......

Yes, you are so right Janey. I cannot wait to go, and see the orleandas, bouganvillias (spl?), prickly pears, vines etc.....it's all coming back to me now. Then in the evennings, I always like to eat in a marina, where I can see and hear the rigging of the yaghts...... LOL !!!
