Rhododendron Taurus with Woodspirit

that is so beautiful and looks totally natural with the backdrop of trees etc. If the house wasn't in the photo you could be in mountains of Asia on a plant hunting expedition.

Wow from me too!!!!!! This is a vivid rhododendron AND a fantastic sized specimen too! I’ve a little tiddler compared to yours, Klahanie!!!

I adore your Woodspirit, very atmospheric. Is it a 'one-off'? I have been looking for a 'Green Man' for our wall/garden, but they're all so naff! The rhodo. is quite nice, too, Klahanie. ;-)

SBG. This property is very woodsy. Cleared spot in the forest and that's why the thing like "woodspirit" fits here.
I have many small ones done by various people from pine knots around our deck.

Kate, I planted these as 2 big cypresses behind it got diseased and started to die. Beautiful trees but not for this climate. The area (Pacific Northwest) was over planted with them and they eventually all died. I understand that University in Oregon is developing a specimen more adaptable to our climate. Long story short: it was about 12 years ago. Then we had to cut the big trees down and the rhododendrons filled the space. The "woodspirit" idea came later.

Anget, yes...one of the kind. I watched Mike (the caver) make it for me. It was done with chain saw. It is very lovable character.

I think the rhododendrons have really made the Soave their own! They really are beautiful! I do love woodspirit too, every time I see him, I think he’s protecting the wildlife and the plants...
