This tree is very commonly grown here...it has become a weed tree in many areas of Southern California...it will germinate in concrete, asphalt and very rocky soil. Photo taken in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on Dec. 1, 2010.

Yes, it's a very pretty tree. It is widely grown in the home landscape. I have them popping up from the neighborhood trees all the time.
