Our Allotment, Parsnip growing tip!

We were struggling growing parsnips as they take so long, the weeds were 5 inchs tall and we couldn't see where the parsnips were growning. Someone suggested putting polystyrene cups in the gound and sowing the parsnip seeds in the cups, so we could weed around the cups and see the parsnips coming through.
