This tree was planted 2 years ago as a 1" sapping and now has a 4 inch trunk thanks to this tree treatment method: http://www.dirtdoctor.com/organic/garden/view_question/id/3864/
The big guy is looking great after his "trunk revamp" and soil overhaul! I love it!
