Close up. This Iris used to be deep purple several years ago but has become paler every year . As you can see it 's nearly white now. Any one know why ?

I can only think the iris reverted back to an original form as it grew, each new rhizome a bit lighter. Common with an F1 hybrid. Very strange in an iris, they usually to stay pretty true.
