Monster Lavender

As much as I love Lavender in the Garden, ours grow like weeds, and this one has been reduced so that we can get by or it tries to eat you...so we've got about a third of it... :))

I can see its in ideal conditions - dry (poor) soil and they are very happy.

I used to have more in this side bed Drc, but had to take them out they just blocked everything...
H was saying that this bed has layers of shingle under, because the drainage pipes for the Bungalow run underneath...the soil here is not too bad, it's light sandy soil, but has been enriched over the time that we've lived here, and has a porous pipe watering system running through too...I'm going to try French Lavenders they're more compact...for other spots in the main Garden...

Light sandy soil is perfect for English Lavender, no wonder they do well there.

Yes, but you can trim the new grow back after flowering .

It seems the more we give them a haircut, the more they grow...

Well of course that does happen,. but if you dont you get it becoming very woody and straggly and even bigger.
