Some of them look a bit overbred if you know what I mean.

What do you mean Wagger? Does it look small or unhealthy? I don't grow this kind of orchid, so I'm exactly sure how they should look.

No, I don't mean that, Tasteg. It's as thoug they are pushing the flowers' boundaries to the limit - colours, ruffles, unusual shapes. They take them so far away from the original species as to be virtually unrecognisible. I'm a sucker for simplicity, but that is just my choice.

Gorgeous, weird & wonderful. When we lived in Venezuela I use to go into the jungle to collect orchids. Most people were to scared to venture in, but being brought up in Africa this girl could only see the prize. I had beauties, and when we left Venezuela, friends lined up 6:00am for these beauties. Off course Venezuela had the ideal conditions for orchids.
I always stand in wonder looking at them & know how superb nature is.

Wagger- Do you know what the original species of this was?

It's sounds like you've led an adventurous life Doon. How exciting to get your orchids from the jungle, instead of the local market :)

What I know about orchids you could engrave on the head of a pin, Tasteyg - just know what I like.
