This is the first time I have managed to pollinate a Pleione blossom. Many tries; no joy. But a grower of Vanilla Orchids in Sri Lanka showed a visiting TV Presenter how to do it in the absence of suitable pollen vectors.
A piece of stick is used to pick up the pollina and stick them on to the stigma; job done and (Baited breath) Hey Presto! a short time later a seed pod begins to form. (A fine camelhair brush never worked for me.) Will it contain any viable seed? Hatching chickens and all that we will just have to wait and see.
