Peach Tree

I grew this little peach tree from the seed of a 30 year old tree. I planted the seed in September of 2007 but didn't take very good care of it during the winter months. It sprouted in March of 2008 so I began to be a bit more attentive. Now it is over a foot tall and the leaves are beginning to change color. (I actually planted two (for cross pollenation purposes) and both are doing very well.

I do too Janette. It will take at least 2 more years of growth before it produces fruit but half the fun is knowing you grew it from seed.

I am thinking I should transplant it to a larger container before spring so the roots won't become too cramped..I see some are growing through the holes at the bottom of the container.

Clever you to think of having two peach trees.
Looks like they are being very successful.
I hope you eventually enjoy the fruits of your labour ! :o)

I just hope they continue to thrive..if our economy continues to decline, I may have to live on pecans, almonds peaches, pears, grapes and cherries, if I can get to them before the birds do...

Must admit in my gardens I don't grow anything fit for human consumption. :o)
If the recession bites I have plans to send Conker out as a gardener, mowing lawns and raking. He's especially good at tidying up flower pots. For the larger lawns, he'll take along renamed Bonkers and pull a few strings. Lol

Reckon I'll be needed on site, because Conker gets so enthusiastic he'll be mixing up all his tricks ~ raking the flower pots and mowing the flowers.
~ How did one little peach tree inspire so much conversation. Lol .
