I agree - I wish I could grow one but I don't do very well with roses.

Roses are my absolute favourites Celandine. I didn't used to do well with roses either. Then I got a rugosa rose called 'Hansa'. Very shrubby and very prickly but grows like a weed. Covered with loads of fushia pink blooms which smell heavenly. Nothing ever seemed to bother it. That one did so well for me that I started "branching out". Now I have about 50 or so different roses of all different kinds from Hybrid Teas to David Austins to miniatures.
They take a bit more care than most plants but the bit of extra effort has been worth it. Maybe give it another try with a really disease resistant and hardy rose. You never know!!! :o)
