Remember my grandparents Sandra my grandmother with grey hair an apron and those checked slippers with a bobble on the front she was 50 in 1965 and I have earlier memories so would have been like this in her forties . A bit sad that they felt old so soon.

My grandfather very cynical about old age pension he said it was introduced to ensure few people lived long enough to claim it .

24 Nov, 2009

your right they looked old before their time , but then again life was tougher for them, no easy home gadgets, women stayed at home to raise kids and clean, not as much freedom to choose ray, there is more in the media about for woman now, having time for themselves, and pressure to keep looking good, changed so quickly to in such a short time,
think your granfather had a point there :o))

24 Nov, 2009

Sorry to digress Sandra but think it has to do with mental outlook cant believe you actually feel old you certainly dont look it.

My grandmother had no mental expectation of life beyond a certain age yet other ladies from her generation have lived well into their nineties ..despite my grandfathers cynicism he got 25 years of pension. When pensions first introduced 65 seemed positively ancient.

Never knew my mothers parents as both died in their fifties .. think it great that ladies continue to look so good and expect to live to a healthy old age .

Media pressure would have ladies believe that we men all hanker after younger girls... that is so untrue. Most of us really cant be doing with them oh they might be nice to look at but living with them .. no thanks .

24 Nov, 2009

sound like baz, he says that about the young ones lol, i dont feel old and when im having a good day i look and think, not to bad for 50,, lol some days feel and look 70 lol, but age doesnt really bother me as long as i have my health, i admit i even tried botox and fillers a couple of years ago, then i suddenly thought when looking at a new passport pic, my god what am i doing, it just wasnt me anymore in the pic, so stopped, that was about 2 years ago, im me now and happy with that :o))

24 Nov, 2009

Well so glad to hear that Sandra and clearly Baz thinks world of you .. eventually us men realise more important whats on the inside than the outside.

Erm not that your outside looks bad either ..think PP and hubby have the answer happy with one another so what else matters ? Worked for them for 50 years .

So guess they must be doing something right .. bless them.

25 Nov, 2009

Thanks for the lovely welcome Sandra :o)
