For moist, but not waterlogged, soil in a cool position in part shade. Flowering stems up to six feet tall

I have seen some poor specimens this year; they have not enjoyed the dry summer.

Richard - I only planted this one this spring. It was in a newly prepared and planted border, close to the fence and fairly shady. The soil here is quite heavy but fertile. It did not receive any watering after beng planted.
It is not very tall (less than four feet) but looks very healthy
