My Red Sumatra Chinese Evergreen is not as red as it should be in my unheated greenhouse without any roof. lol! This plant is not very easy to grow...it tends to be very temperamental, although I've been able to keep it alive for about 2 years now. Photo taken Jan. 17, 2012.

This plant died a year ago. It wasn't easy for me to grow.
I have some green forms growing outside for years and they grew very well for me. However, this year one died because of the drought. They need a lot more water when grown in the ground, which is the opposite of growing them in pot (when they need very little water).

It does well as a houseplant. Blooms with sort of a satiny silky white spath.
