Yes, I've removed a couple of plants with lighter coloured flowers to try and keep the true dark colour.

I do that with my Aquilegia, just keep the ones with nice or different coloured flowers.

Really lovely Andrew. A couple of years ago I gathered some pods from my ordinary aquilegias and grew some from seed and they have flowers on this year.
