These palms were moving in the nice warm breezes. This was before the extreme heatwave took over (now) as most of California, Arizona and Nevada are experiencing insanely hot weather. Most of the the west is under excessive heat warnings. Photo taken in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on June 25, 2013.

Yes, it's pretty much all the western states that are baking. All of the desert Southwest is experiencing extremely dangerous, deadly heat! If you can believe it, most of the deserts will be between 122ºF (50ºC ) and 130ºF (54.4ºC), the 130ºF is forecasted for Death Valley, CA. (it's already been 128ºF (53.3ºC) there for the last two days)
The heat here in inland San Diego is humid, also. It's feeling a lot like Florida. It's suppose to stay HOT all week! YUCK!!!!

Are you hitting record highs Delonix?
30 Jun, 2013
Yes, we're very close to records highs. Tomorrow (Sunday) most likely there will be many records broken throughout all of Southern California.
The 118ºF (47.8ºC) yesterday, out in Borrego Springs (San Diego County Desert) was a record high for the date... tomorrow maybe a tie of the all-time record high out there of 123ºF (50.6ºC). Some areas of the Coachella Valley, (where Palm Springs is located) may surpass the all-time recorded high temps. This is extremely dangerous, deadly heat! Even in inland San Diego (not the desert), many people were taken to the hospitals with heatstroke! It would surprise you to know that a person can die, so shockingly fast from heatstroke (in less than a half an hour).

Take care and be careful.

Thanks! Luckily, where I live it wasn't as hot as they originally forecasted! Further inland areas are still scorching!

What else?
This photo is of species Archontophoenix alexandre; Howea fosteriana.
See who else has plants in genus Archontophoenix.
The heat is even moving up North. We are suppose to have 30 C today and tomorrow even hotter. With all the humidity around here it will be mucky. But I know it will not last long. It never does.
