Chamaedorea adscendens - Velvet Palm and Chamaedorea metallica - Metallic Palm

I've had these two palm for many years. Velvet palm is a painfully slow growing palm...which has gorgeous velvelty fronds. Metallic Palm grows very slowly also...and has a bluish-green-silver metallic shiny frond. They are great understory palms for very shady to almost dark areas. Photo taken at Rancho Soledad on Jan. 14, 2010.

They do look very healthy in this very large greenhouse. They may even look better in the ground here in a shaded area.
