Chamaedorea elegans - Parlor Palm

My Parlor palm has been in the ground in this spot for at least 4 years (I have many Parlor palms growing outside). It's still relatively small because it's been competing against the roots of the giant Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria heterophylla) which it's planted under. Photo taken Mar. 11, 2013.

It's a popular landscape shade plant, here. It only grows to about 6ft (2m) tall; but, takes many years.
