I love this little gem! It's actually much more lusciously dark than the photo shows, Sticki...

But, I don't know how to save the seeds, Pixi! :(

I planted two of them as €2 annuals last year...then I found the roots when I was moving things around in the spring and they were still alive! :))

I am saving hibiscus seeds for you though, the pink one is looking very promising! :)

Well what I did..dont know if its right..wait till they have bloomed and died off cut the stem and tie up with a bag around..incase any seeds fall out..when dry I just kinda wiggled them out! lol :)

What an amazing flower it is up close, I've never seen it in that much detail. I had one here last year, but it had no chance at all of surviving last winter, even in the greenhouse.

Thanks, W :))

I really, really didn't expect them to survive, Karen, but they did, outside with no protection.....and we did get down to -14°C...with snow!

Funny isn't it...only -10 here and it was in the greenhouse too...perhaps it's the damp that gets to them rather than the cold.

Mmmmm chocolate! I think its best to store the tubers frost free like Dahlias :o)

I haven't got anywhere to store them indoors :(
But this year Camil's going to spread straw over that whole bed...mostly to protect the young cordylines and yuccas...
So I'll let you know how it goes in the spring... :)
